Untangling the web of deceit

Here’s a little dose of reality. The incoming administration, which was advised before the election by the discredited former leaders of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, is naming a Treasury team composed of precisely those individuals who are largely responsible for the economic crisis. In this and many other ways, Mr. Obama has pulled a massive deceit on the American people. He has blamed, and continues to blame, President Bush for the misguided actions of President Clinton which triggered the subprime crisis.

More generally, by using a focused inner anger, Alinsky tactics, massive vote fraud, yard sign theft, and other unethical practices, accompanied by vague Nazi-style rhetoric, a nobody from nowhere, who has little time for God and His ways and who has yet to produce a genuine birth certificate, has managed to become elected as President of the United States. “A malicious man disguises himself with his lips, but in his heart he harbors deceit.” (Proverbs 26:24) We would do well to remember that scripture. And this one too: “Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with destruction. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongue they speak deceit.” (Psalm 5:9)

This leaves us with a dilemma. What do we do? Of course, we should pray that God will lead Mr. Obama into paths of integrity, honesty and righteousness. And at the same time we must pray for our nation, as we are careful to daily monitor our liberties and our culture for signs of erosion, and react accordingly.

We are likely to see attacks on talk radio, the Internet (including this web site), home schooling and other lifelines to sanity. After all, the goal of the socialists is to discourage contrary thinking and communication, while mouthing whatever is inspired by Orwellian doublethink. In 1984, George Orwell defined Doublethink as “The power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one’s mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them….To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient.”

If this sounds vaguely familiar, you’ll probably recall the last Democrat president, who promised “the most ethical administration in history” when he took office. Today, that remark is regarded with wry humor when considered as a preface to the Clinton years, an administration which featured more ethical violations than any other in American history.

The portents are troubling. But let us not compromise our beliefs. The America we have known is about to be attacked by an insidious fifth column. What can we do? Immediately, we can guard our own households. We can ensure our own lives are as free as possible from sin. Then, we can cry out to God, as did King David: “Vindicate me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation; rescue me from deceitful and wicked men.” (Psalm 43:1) And our prayers shall be answered.
